ERNST KIRCHSTEIGER

“A town which welcomes you with open arms”

Some time ago, I was asked about my favourite places in the world. When I listed six different locations in Örebro, the journalist asked if I’d never travelled abroad. Well, of course I have, but I always feel happy when I come back to Örebro. It is like coming home to

someone who welcomes you with open arms, a sympathetic and warm person who laughs easily but also has satisfying depths. Someone who makes me feel welcome and happy. I’m very fortunate to live in Örebro, because I get to feel this every day.”

A town that’s made
for walking

Örebro is a small metropolis: large enough to provide a generous choice in everything, but small enough for residents and visitors to get around easily on foot. Örebro’s main tourist attractions are the 13th Century castle in the middle of the town, the famous Svampen (Mushroom) water tower and the Gustavsvik holiday park with one of the largest adventure swimming complexes in Europe and more than 700,000 visitors a year. Örebro is a town made for walking, with its beautiful listed town centre and the multiple award-winning Stadsparken park with the old Wadköping town district. Örebro also has a lot to offer in the way of entertainment, shopping and culture. The surrounding area is well worth exploring – it is a beautiful region where you find the best of most things Sweden has to offer.
